Terms of use

Last updated: October 2, 2026

By accessing or using HeirloomMath (heirloommath.com), operated by [TO FILL: operator entity], you agree to these Terms of Use.

Educational purpose & user responsibility

HeirloomMath provides educational reference articles and client-side browser calculators for planning photo, slide, negative, and home-movie digitization (Photo & Slide Digitization Planner), inspecting image histograms, stripping EXIF tags locally, solving historical gravestone and calendar dates, calculating US Federal Census birth windows, evaluating cousin kinship and shared centiMorgan statistics, and compiling AI restoration or transcription prompts (Tombstone, Census & Kinship Calculator). Optional AI features can also create a restored photo copy or draft handwriting transcription from an image you choose to submit.

Every physical photograph, film strip, magnetic tape, gravestone, and historical document has unique conservation requirements and provenance. You are solely responsible for testing any physical handling or digitization workflow on non-unique materials first, verifying all dates and transcriptions against primary county or archival records, and maintaining independent backups of your digital files before modifying or deleting any metadata.

Optional AI features

AI restoration and handwriting transcription require you to choose an image, check the consent box, and click the action button before it is submitted for processing. Use only images you have permission to share and process, and consider the privacy of anyone named or pictured. Our privacy policy explains image preparation, third-party processing through Alibaba Cloud Model Studio / Qwen in Beijing, China, and retention limits.

AI can invent details, alter faces, or misread names and dates. A restored copy or draft transcription is not a verified historical record. Keep your original files, label AI-derived copies, and compare results with the source before relying on or sharing them. Availability and output quality may vary, and we do not guarantee that a particular restoration or transcription will succeed.

No warranties

The website, its guides, calculators, and AI features are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular archival or genealogical purpose, or non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, [TO FILL: operator entity] and its editor shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages—including loss of data, physical damage to photographic or magnetic media, or errors in genealogical or estate research—arising out of or related to your use of, or reliance on, any information or tool on this site.
